This is part of O2's plans to unwire the UK, and the firm is pretty glad to be associated with those Golden Arches.
"A year ago we set out our ambition to transform public wifi in the UK by offering a fast and reliable public wifi connection that is genuinely free for all, no matter which mobile or broadband provider they are with," said Gavin Franks, MD of O2 Wifi.
"This announcement builds on the significant partnerships already secured by O2 Wifi in the past 12 months, enabling millions of people the length and breadth of the UK to access the internet for free whilst on the move."
McDonalds' customers will find the service easy to use, the firms said, and only need to sign up once to enjoy it at any of the its restaurants. You do not need to be an O2 customer to use it.
Mark Fabes, IT director at McDonald's UK said that customer use of wireless connections was rocketing at its restaurants and reckons that around three quarters of a million UK punters have some internet with their order every month.
