Image drifting through interstellar space without a star of its own to orbit, has been discovered a hundred light years from Earth. If confirmed, it will be the first of its kind to be proven to exist - and there may be billions more like it out there. :green:

I saw this. Imagine that thing slamming into another planet. Everything around it would be destroyed.

too true Pat :green:
A possible free-floating exoplanet, drifting through interstellar space without a star of its own to orbit, has been discovered a hundred light years from Earth. If confirmed, it will be the first of its kind to be proven to exist - and there may be billions more like it out there.
without a star it's just an asteroid surely?

why is it a rogue planet and not a rogue asteroid? planet to me suggests habitable or possibly habitable, like mj12cz alludes, it would be horrendously cold

I suppose it depends on your definition of a planet. The members of the IAU can't even agree on this
